The WHTM-TOYOTA WEATHERNET allows our school to access real-time weather conditions right here at WPMS WHTM - channel 27, presented the weather station to our school. WHTM purchased it from the Automated Weather Source
We have the ability to access similar stations at schools across the country For example, on a particularly cold day this past winter, I accessed the weather station at an elementary school in Honolulu, Hawaii and announced some of their weather stats.
Channel 27 can access our information. On many occaisions, Chuck Rhoads, Rob Dixon and Mick O'Hearn have shown our station's weather information on their tv weather reports
When our school first received the weather station, Chuck Rhoads and Rob Dixon came to our school and filmed a commercial using some of our students. Rob Dixon then interviewed some students and me for a report shown that evening on the news
The weather station allows us to record weather information in both the English and Metric systems Along with the time and date, we can record the following weather information: temperature, barometric pressure, humidity, dew point, wind chill or heat index, wind - speed and direction, percentage of possible sunlight, and amount of liquid precipitation (it canet measure snowfall).
Through WHTM's web-site you can access our station via WeatherNet Online.
The Automated Weather Source has provided the teachers with lesson plans so they can better use the weather station.
